The French School of NYC offers private tutoring and small group classes of up to six students per class. Starting at the age of 3 years old and up, the classes are developed and customized according to age group and level.

Note that learning French with the Act in French program is only available for 5-16 year olds. The parents and the student will only be able to receive a recording of the child’s act at the end of the sessions for free if he or she agrees to be recorded.

NOTE FOR PARENTS: For each child you wish to enroll, please download, sign, and date our parent covenant and liability forms. They may be returned to us by fax at 646 672 9876 or to 400 Central Park West, #5M, New York, NY 10025 once you register.

GROUP

Starting at the age of 3 years old and up, Active French offers small group classes for up to six students maximum per teacher at our locations or your own. If you want to close a class to only 2 or 3 students for example, you may for an additional $30 per class. 

For a small additional investment, a small group language course can improve your child’s proficiency dramatically and prepare your child for French SAT, AP and others exams. These classes have several advantages :

COURSE DESCRIPTIONS

3 to 5 Years Old

Class description:
In this class, children learn and practice their French using their creativity in drawing, crafts, games, conversation, print, audio, and video materials. Through those different fun activities, the children are encouraged to express themselves in French through playing, singing, and mime. They will develop oral skills, new French vocabulary and cultural awareness. They will be able to recognize, respond and ask a variety of basic questions in French.

6 to 9 Years Old

Class description:
In this class, your child will learn French using their creativity in drawing, crafts, games, conversation, print, audio, and video materials. Plenty of French vocabulary, colors, numbers, songs and basic greetings will be learned in this class through different fun games and interactive activities. The children are encouraged to express themselves through playing, singing, and mime. They will develop oral skills and cultural awareness. They will also learn how to read and write basic French words, sentences and/or even books! Thru different fun activities, conversation, print, audio, and video materials adapted to their age and level, they will learn also to ask questions and to respond to them, all in French. In our optional* Act in French program, students work with the instructor and with each other to develop written dialogues. The parts are learned by heart and the students become the stars in their very own comedies, dramas, and Westerns, complete with props and live cameras (for those who are comfortable with it). At the end of the class, parents and students can receive a recording of the performance in French.

*optional: our classes are like playdates. We only invite children to be part of a play. If he/her choose not to be part of a play or game, there is always other educative games he/her can choose from our selection.

9 to 11 Years Old

In this class we empower the brain thru different activities like stretching and toning as well as brain gym exercices from educational kinesiology to enhance and improve the brain's health and function. As we aged we are not challenged anymore to learn new tasks and our brain power start to slow down.
